Superb piece, Malcolm. Thanks. Got some ferry tokens, but none remotely as nice.

Beautiful token. Where in Scotland was it used? Is the metal Brass, copper or bronze.

I imagine it refers to the Queensferry ferry, which crossed the Firth of Forth roughly where the Forth Road Bridge now is (http://www.sabre-roads.org.uk/maps/index.php?view=56.01897,-3.43668&map=OSMMap&zoom=7&layer=0&markers=56.19717,-3.28441,) and stopped operating when that bridge opened in 1964.

It is in copper and quite thick. I have seen it attributed to Queensferry.

Yes, that's better. My internet connection was giving me grief last night and I couldn't get any further than the landing page.

Smith and Smith (1981) list a similar piece, but round, brass, 29 mm.
