Hungary-200 forint patterns.jpg

In 2008 Hungary's Monetary Council decided to introduce a 200 forint coin.

It was meant to replace the existing 200 forint banknote.

The National Bank then allowed the public to vote on the reverse design of the coin.

They were allowed to choose among six designs:

a stork; a woodpecker; two protected flowers; the Chain Bridge; and the new Megyeri motorway bridge.
