Bank of Russia Announces Commemorative Coins

Банк России сегодня выпускает в обращение памятные монеты из драгоценных металлов серий «История русской авиации» и «Памятники архитектуры России» (Казанский Богородицкий монастырь).

Об этом сообщили в департаменте внешних и общественных связей Центробанка.

Серебряные монеты номиналом 1 рубль серии «История русской авиации» изготовлены из сплава 925-й пробы.

На оборотной стороне одной монеты расположены рельефное изображение самолета Ту-144 и выполненный в цвете след самолета в небе; на второй монете — рельефное изображение самолета У-2 и выполненный в цвете след самолета в небе.

Тираж монет — по 5 тысяч единиц каждого вида. Серебряная монета номиналом 25 рублей «Казанский Богородицкий монастырь, город Казань» также изготовлена из сплава 925-й пробы.

So in English summary there will be commemorative coins issued for 1 Ruble series of Historical Russian Aviation - Aircraft TU-144 and aircraft U-2 which is better known in west as PO-2.

Also coin in silver of 25 rubles will be issued for Kazansky Borogodntsky Monastery in city of Kazan.

Today, the Bank of Russia has issued precious metal commemorative coins in the series "History of Russian Aviation" and "Architectural Monuments of Russia" (The Virgin of Kazan Monastery).

This was reported by the Department of External and Public Relations of the Central Bank.

The silver 1 ruble coin of the series "History of Russian Aviation" has a fineness of 0.925.

On the reverse of the coin is the design of the Tu-144. The exhaust fumes in the sky of the aircraft is executed in colour. On the second coin - with the design of the U-2 aircraft the exhaust fumes in the sky of the aircraft are also executed in colour.

Mintage of the coins is up to 5,000 units each. Th silver coin of 25 rubles, "The Virgin of Kazan Monastery, the city of Kazan" also has a fineness of 0.925.
An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.

I am not sure on how to buy them outside of Russia - other than finding sellers reselling on eBay or Molotok.ru.  I can pick up some commemoratives in Ukraine at a few commercial banks - and I imagine you can do same in Russia.
