One I'd never seen before!

NCLT?
always willing to trade modern UK coins for modern coins from elsewhere....

My 2006/1427 set (first year of new emblem) does not include a 1 Dirham, just 5, 10, 25, 50. So a denomination revived.... really could be for real circulation use.

Thanks Mr Paul Baker

The 1 Dirham 2008 (S#46) was of course made for circulation, and it is listed and illustrated for two editions now in the Schön World Coin Catalogue. Indeed, the coat of arms of Qatar was changed on the coins in 2006.

the nominal value is about 0.2 euro cents. so, in a rich country like Qatar the purchasing power must be very close to zero.
maybe the Qataris have discovered the supermarkets with the 0.99 prices  ;D

I wonder if also the 2006 issue has been produced (bronze planchets) and will suddenly appear on the market. would be nice.

cheers

The 1 Dirham was only minted with 1966 (S#1), 1973 (S#6), 2008 (S#46) dates. There is none with a 2006 mark.

2012 set has appeared in circulation with 1 Dirham very much a part of it.
