Here's another I'm stuck with, this time a coin I think.
always willing to trade modern UK coins for modern coins from elsewhere....

If I could have consulted my books, my first guess would have been the Papal States. On my tiny screen, I think I can read R.O   M.A, with two haloed figures but I am not sure.

The exergue may be a regnal date, e.g. "A. II", but again it's only a possibility given the state of wear.

Thanks Martin. After a long stare, I think I see .S.A. in the exergue. Sanctus A... maybe?

This coin type of Venice originated in 1519. It is a copper Bagattino showing the winged lion of Saint Mark in a square on one side, and the other has virgin Mary with baby Jesus along with the legend R(egina) C(aeli) L(aetare) A(lleluia).
