This text refers to copper "mites" of Brabant with a crowned K struck for Charles V, but I think your piece is too early by a couple of centuries at least:

Your coin is neither Burgundian/Dutch nor Spanish. The closest I get are the double mijt coins of Antwerp (Vanhoudt I 40) and Bruges/Brugge (Vanhoudt I 41), but the legends are of course all wrong and the mint mark seems to have disappeared. I have no documentation for Austrian coins of this period.

My best guess is that this is a modern imitation of these coins, for use in some medieval festival. Much of this guess is based on the missing "dei gratia".

Thanks Peter,

I am convinced that this piece is not a modern imitation. Looking to the cross I have the feeling that I have to search in the north Italian area.  I will look further.

thanks.

Dear members,

for your information.

With some help from the "everycountry coin group" we identify this coin.

It is a trillina from Milan Italy during the reign of Charles V 1536-1555 as Grand Duke.

regards

For the sae of completeness, I read the legend as follows, starting at 6 o'clock on the lower picture (which I believe to be upside down):

CaroLVS.ROMANORvm* continued on the upper picture *IMPERATOR*, where "*" is a 6-petalled rosette.
