Here's another coin that I can't place, a copper coin of 23 mm and 1.26 gr.
...ATOR, is that IMPERATOR? I can't say anything about it. But I'm curious.

Hello,

Man can read LIBERT on the second face, on something that could be a tiara or headband, like on US coins during the 19th century, or something on a shield.

Italian states, but I can't remember which has the LIBERT.. on a crowned shield, obviously a self-governing city I suppose. The obverse is a standing bishop/saint I think. I can see a couple of 'v's round him but not much more at the moment.

Alan.

On Papal coins the "LIBERT." or "LIBERTAS" is only found as part of the emblem of Bologna, which is divided in two parts: a red cross as emblem of the city and LIBERTAS as emblem of the people.
The LIBERTAS appears on Papal coins of Clemens VIII, Paul V, Benedict XIV ... struck in Bologna.

I am attracted to Lucca now.
Not that I can find a match to the coin of this topic, but the combination of the words "LIBERTAS" and "IMPERATOR" on the two coins underneath is remarkable. And the gold coin is from Lucca, as well as the coat of arms:
Left = Carolus Imperator, but I think ours is more like Otto.

An other argument in favor of Lucca: The legend SANCTVS MARTINVS on the coins' reverse.
