This is a silver Denar from the GRAND DUCHY OF LITHUANIA dating from 1392-1430 AD. This was issued under the reign of Grand Duke: Vytautas Didysis.

I suppose the obverse is the coat of arms of the Gediminaičiai dynasty:

But what's on the reverse?

Hi Peter. Wikipedia did mention that this was the origin of this symbol. It's referred to as the 'Columns of Gediminids'. It's sometimes still used on coins today as a historic national symbol along with Vytautas on horseback. The reverse pattern is somewhat of a mystery. I thought it might be an orb or some other regalia symbol. Due to the crude minting methods, I can't say for certain. Any who has any input or theories as to what the symbol is, feel free to share with us.

Modern historicans and numismats in Lithuania think that on reverse is the end of spear with the cross, the rare type is when the cross is on the right but left

is the theory, that the cross appeared on the coins from the times when Lithuania become from the pagan religion state to the christian

in nowadays numismats say that this type of denars was minted in Vilno and simultaneously in the ukrainian city of Lutsk, which in that time was in the part of Grand Ducy of Lithuania

this is grounded on the huge amount af the denars of this type founded in treasures in the regoin of Lutsk in the last 5 years
