In 1980 Uruguay issued another brief design series.

The 1 nuevo peso coin of 1980 carried the coat of arms on its obverse.


The reverse featured the national flower, from the Erythrina crista-galli tree.

It is commonly known as the ceibo in Spanish or the cockspur coral tree in English.


The coin was issued in 1980 only.
