Peru, coins of 1966.

In 1966 Peru issued a new design series. All the coins were round and made of brass.

The 5, 10 and 25 centavos coins featured the national flower: Cantua buxifolia.

The ½ sol de oro and the 1 sol de oro depicted a vicuña.

Here is a closer view of the vicuña design.

It is an attractive design, in high relief.

It was created by Armando F. Pareja.

His surname appears on the coin.

Peru, 5 soles de oro, 1969.

In 1969 Peru issued two new standard circulation coins for that year only.

The 5 soles de oro featured a stylised wooden Inca beaker on the reverse.

The word PRUEBA means trial.

The issued design is the same but does not show that word.
