These are Iranian 'nauruz' or new year tokens. See http://www.worldofcoins.eu/forum/index.php/topic,39159.msg247531.html#msg247531  and http://www.worldofcoins.eu/forum/index.php/topic,18055.msg122791.html#msg122791 for others and inscription details.

These were produced from the 1930s-1970s to replace the small 'shahi sefid' 250 dinar pieces (struck 1876 onwards) which it had been traditional to give as New Year presents, but stopped being struck in 1926.

The 1st one isn't yet present on WoC threads...
for information, it reads : " شاد باش " Shad bash / "be happy",  tulips and  "lilah / tulips" at top (tulips are symbols of happiness) and date : 1338

Indeed. Photo taken in April 2002 on our wedding anniversary.

Did you scattered tokens or some nisars specially struck for this event among the delirious crowd ?  as done by mughal emperors from their howdah on the royal elephant back... :)
I don't know if that was too in use in Persia ?

Did you notice the windmill? In the tightfisted Netherlands, if you scatter money on the street, you'll find yourself in psychiatric care the same day. :D
