In 1987 Paraguay issued two collector coins with the same themes and designs: a silver 10 000 guaraníes and a gold 250 000 guaraníes.

The obverse design featured the building of the Central Bank of Paraguay.

The reverse design featured Bernardino Caballero and Alfredo Stroessner. The design commemorated the centennial of the Colorado Party, a Paraguayan right-wing political party in Paraguay, that was founded on 11 September 1887, by Bernardino Caballero. Alfredo Stroessner was a Paraguayan Army officer who served as president of Paraguay from 1954 to 1989, during the military dictatorship.
