I've had this coin (?) for a long time and could never identify it, except that it's French. I've examined it again and now wonder if it isn't a jeton or token of some kind.  Unfortunately, it's badly corroded and a lot of the writing on the edges are unreadable, especially to me.

The piece is 21mm / 21.5mm. and very thin. It seems to be copper but I'm not sure about that. I'd appreciate someone helping me identify it. Many thanks.
