I know what you mean Peter. Years ago I bought a 20 Ruble coin from the Khwarezm Soviet Peoples Republic, and found out later the coin was bogus. Unfortunately, there was very little printed material at the time on these coins, and there wasn't any internet, thus I had no way to research it. As you say, live and learn.
