Gupta dynasty, Chandragupta II, Silver
« on: January 03, 2019, 05:20:21 PM »
Hi,
This one  recently came up in one Indian Auction but surprisingly (and luckily for me) there was no bid and I managed to get it at the least estimate.
Though the strike is bit weak, fairly full text visible on the coin and that too nicely centered.
Guptas, Chandragupta II,
Silver Drachm, 1.83g, 13.2 mm
Obv: Bust of king facing right,
Rev: Garuda in centre, circuler Brahmi legend “Parambhagavata Maharajadhiraj Sri Chadragupta Vikramaditya”
Thanks,
Saikat

Great aquisition. As said, a bit weakly struck but nice quality for this with all the important parts for attribution nicely visible.
Thumbs up for adding the overlay also !

Impressive, Saikat. Few people could have made that overlay.
