Another recent acquisition: If I've got it right a bisti (20 dinars) of Tahmasp I from Lahijan. 1.12 gm, 12 mm

I haven't found anything similar on Zeno to confirm it and it isn't in Sica 9 or Farabaksh either, so confirmation welcomed.

This coin seems unpublished and well identifiable with clear ruler's name and mint.
its weight indicates a bisti (20 dinars value) struck on the 2nd standard of Tahmasp I from 1526 to 1538 AD / 933 to 945 AH)

And the value to collectors of the index jumps again. Thank you Alan!

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.

Hi saro

In the third edition of his checklist Album lists this as a bisti (20 dinars) of the fifth Western standard, c.960-971 H, 1.17 gm, A. C2605 (common). He doesn't list a bisti for the second standard, and instead lists a 10 dinars at 1.24 gm with the comment 'exists??'.

He also lists 1.17 gm coins in the 4th (1/4 shahi, 12 1/2 dinars) and 6th (1/2 shahi) standards, both rare, so I'm assuming mine must be the common one, but without a date I suppose it is very much a guess. :(

Persian silver standards specially for Tahmasp Shah I, are a real headache : 6 western + 4 eastern standards for the whole reign of Tahmasp (53 years)....
You are right : 1,24g is for a 10 dinars of the 2nd silver western std.
I gather hereafter the values given by R.Matthee for coins weighing 1,17 to 1,24g which could fit with yours:
- western std :
2nd std (937-47 AH) : 10dinars / 1,24g
5th std (960-71 AH  or later):  1 bisti (20 d.) / 1,17g
6th std (975-84 AH) :  50 dinars (1/2 shahi) / 1,17g

- 4th eastern std :
20 dinars (960-71 AH) / 1,17g

Your coin could have been struck from 937 to 984 AH during the 47 last years of the reign ! :-\
