The Royal Mint asked Robert Elderton to prepare these two sketches.

They were shown to the Falkland Islands' authorities.

Falkland Islands, 2 pounds, 1986.

The issued coin was designed by Philip Nathan.

The documents do not record why neither of Mr Elderton's designs was  used.
