Iran, civic copper of Resht / peacock & crown
« on: August 05, 2016, 11:06:24 AM »
This coin is of the same type as this one previously posted, which allows its attribution to Resht.

It has been struck over an old persian coin that I haven't been able to identify  ??? (but that seems to be possible...)
The peacock is topped with a 3 points crown .

The crown on this civic copper and the one seen on modern Pahlavi coinage.

The Pahlavi crown dates from 1925...

Peter

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.
