Finally the Mumbai Mint has opened the Counter Sale booking of products online. So those who have missed booking the older issues can login and book these till the stocks last. The same restriction of one coin applies. One way this is good news, but looking at the other way, looks like the demand is weak forcing the Mint to open the bookings online for counter sale products.

Maybe you can also see it as a move towards a fairer distribution. Now, you don't have to go to Mumbai any more and there's no standing in line either (think of invalids and elderly people).

This is a very good move :). I stay in Bangalore and cant go other places to buy coins.I did not book the 60/- coin and was thinking about buying it from the dealer .  Here is my second opportunity.

Agreed. Even people from Mumbai loose almost half a day. The Mint Counter opens at 10:00 and by the time you get in complete the stuff its almost 10:30. If you live in other part of the city its would be a good few hours to reach ...

I was trying to the book 60/- coin (60 years of coir board) through this online counter.I see that it is displaying only the 60/- coin.Does this mean that I will get only the 60/- coin? I remember it had 60/- and 10/- earlier.Would the package be different?

dheer

You would get the same coin set with the Rs 10 coin. There is no difference in packaging...

Here's the exact link for the e-shop:

The quality of the photos is really pathetic. Does the final cost include postage, or is it extra? (Not that I'm going to buy any of those, of course ;))

Congratulations. Looks like Mint took close to 4-6 weeks to deliver the sets. This should have been faster.

I also received the coins this week. Packing and quality of coins were good. When I called the mint, they said that since this was the first time they were fulfilling the counter sales online, there was a delay. Hopefully next time things will be faster.

Hello All,

I placed an order in the "Online Counter Sale" section on August 19th for the Rs.60 coin. Just wondering if there is any improvement in the delivery time or will it take the 4-6 weeks route ?

Mumbai Mint is generally good. But what you are expecting is magic  >:D
Don't worry, one fine day when you have forgotten about booking, the postman will come and it would be a surprise.  :)

If you talk to the nice gentleman who usually responds to.the calls, the eventual goal is to achieve something like the e-commerce sites. But for now you have to wait for around 6 weeks!
