Ilkhan, Abu Sa'id, dirham, help needed for the mint, please.

This coin belongs to a friend and I'll be pleased if Ilkhanids experts could have a look on its top legend  and mintname (?)
It seems that is a type D dirham

Agree on Type D, combination of Pentagram and Circle cartouche. Likely 2-Dirhams ?
The mintname is in the right picture under "Muhammad" in the centre. But i can't read it reliably here, would need more detail.
(my best guess would be "Hamadan", with a bit malformed calligraphy)

THCoins & Capn, thank you very much for your replies, it could well be Hamadan but for me  it is written "Muhammadan":محمدن , Hamadan should be written : همدان    did you agree ? (it was the reason why I ask for help)

At top of the other face, it seems that the legend starts by "zarb 'adl / daulat al sultan..." ??? which is too uncommon ?

Is what you are reading as M perhaps an ornamental flourish applied by the engraver ?

It was indeed the beginning of the mint word which gave me problems also. I chose Hamadan because it seemed to fit better with the general outline of what i was seeing. The part just left of the possible initial M to me looks a bit strange for "Muhammadan". Also, i have heard of Hamadan mint, but not of Muhammadan.

I think it should be "Dharb / fi ayya / m daulat al-sultan al-a‘zam". "Struck in the days of the reign of the supreme Sultan".

I think that you are right and the mint should be read as "Hamadan" (I confirm : "Muhammadan" doesn't exist...)
