Hoping that some of the coins are released in 2016, including this one, Deendayal Upadhyaya and Biju Patnaik. That way, the total number of releases hopefully don't exceed 10 this year. The other way to look at it is FY2014-15 had seven releases and FY2015-16 has so far had only three. So, one can expect 3-4 more releases this year, especially given that Radhakrishnan and Lala Lajpat Rai coins are yet to be released.

Agreed, it is indeed expensive to collect all commemorative items. Here's a quick check of releases based on the financial year. Average of 4.3 releases per year.

2004-05 – 3 issues
2005-06 – 3 issues
2006-07 – 4 issues
2007-08 – 3 issues
2008-09 – 4 issues
2009-10 – 5 issues
2010-11 – 7 issues
2011-12 – 4 issues
2012-13 – 6 issues (includes Vaishno Devi and Parliament 60 years)
2013-14 – 2 issues
2014-15 – 7 issues
2015-16 – 3 so far (7 months to go) + 2 planned (Radhakrishnan and Lala Lajpat Rai)

This year should break all records.
I guess it should cross 10 in this Financial year.

At this pace I would't be surprised if commemorative coins exceed the postage issues. ;D As is with digital age, the postal system is under pressure and although I don't actively do philately, I think the number of issues have come down from all time high over past few years.

I really hope this does not happen in 2015, but gets released in April 2016.. But given the huge number of releases this year, it be hardly surprising.

This is just a guess, but could this coin release occur on 26 November 2015? There was a recent announcement regarding this day being celebrated as Constitution Day in India. Since Dr. Ambedkar is considered as the Father of India Constitution, could the release occur then?

Anyway, details for this coin are also available. Reverse face of the coin will bear an image of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar with the inscription '125th Birth Anniversary of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar' in English and Devnagari. Again, the year 2015 will be inscribed below the portrait.

As far as the year of commemoration goes, this is error number three in 2015.
1. Dr. Radhakrishnan's 125h birth anniversary was in 2013 (Coin has the release year, i.e. 2015)
2. Tatya Tope's 200th birth year was most likely 2014 (Coin will show the release year, 2015)
3. Dr. Ambedkar's birth year is clearly known to be 1891, leading to the 125th anniversary in 2016 (Coin will have 2015 inscribed on it)

A good guess, given that the Birthday has passed away and this looks like a good event to release the coin. But one can never predict  :D
Creating a new post to discuss the dates. Its more convoluted.
