You must have seen this cow on Latvian (pre-euro) 2 Lats coin. :) Next year, Latvia plans to issue a commemorative €2 coin with the same design. Cow is also a national animal of Latvia.

This 2 euro commemorative coin will be issued next week. There will also be issued 10,000 BU coincards and the coin will also be part of the BU set 2016.

That ramrod straight back of the cow reminds me of the Guernsey threepence of the fifties/10 new pence f the sixties. I guess there are a limited ways to look at a cow.

That is exactly what it reminds me of too.
I do like the design.

Is there anything special about the BU set (face value: €5.88, Issue Price: €25) that has been issued? I just saw a dealer asking €130+ for it... :o

OK, the word is that Latvia will not be issuing any of the regular Latvian euro coins (1c-€2) dated 2016 for circulation. So the date collectors have to get the BU set with a mintage of 5000 only, and hence the high price... ::)
