Taimur Shah has been appointed Nizam (Governor / Viceroy) of the Punjab, Sind and Derajat by his father Ahmad Shah in 1170 AH and struck coins in his own name in these territories from 1170 to 1186 AH (1757-1772 AD); he then successed to Ahmad on the throne of Afghanistan (Taimur as king : 1186 - 1207 AH).
This rupee has been struck at Multan in 1171 AH in his 1st year as Nizam (ahd)

Very interesting coin, both stylish and a bit rugged. Seems fitting with Afghan nature. Also a nice illustration of the geographical shifting of rulers in the region at the time.

Interesting coin , my example is a coin of his father Ahmad Shah dated AH1167 & bears the same flower symbol

Yes... thanks dear THCoins, I don't think that it is of great rarity ? even not in XF grade, it shows full date & mintname.

Many thanks Vic to have posted this nice coin with the full Multan mintmark, isn't it a lily of the valley ?

Whatever, it's a good opportunity to offer you both a sprig for May 1st  ;)
