Although I now have Tyes book I can't find the reverse of this coin or even which way up it goes  ???

Can anyone help?

offstruck - so cannot be sure - probably 223.2, but could be 214.1.

(your "reverse" is the horseman - the obverse as I figure it)

I think maybe this is the right way up, really obscure version of a horse!

Horse did a runner  :D

I think you had it the right way the first time.  The horse is facing left with the rider on top holding a spear.  The loop is the tail of the horse.

I can see it now although yours has a different legend, the legs are all clumped together on mine so it must have been an engravers practice day  :D

just found I have 2 examples of Tye 254 & a what looks like a 244 in the lot also
