Artist Dechko Uzunov honoured with a Bulgarian National Bank coin

A collectible coin commemorating 110 years since the birth of Dechko Uzunov, part of the Noteworthy Bulgarian Artists series of Bulgarian National Bank, will go on sale from February 23, the central bank said on February 20 2009.

Uzunov, an artist who lived from 1899 to 1986, was best known for the span of genres and fields that his creations took – book illustrations, paintings, graphics, scenography, book making, costume design and murals, this latter including in the church Sveti Yoan Predcheta and the foyer of Hotel Kazanluk in his hometown of Kazanluk, and in the Ivan Vazov National Theatre, the National Opera, the National Palace of Culture (NDK) and the Palace of Justice in Sofia.

The copper coin (999/1000), designed by Petar Stoikov, has a face vale of two leva. It weighs 16.40g, has a smooth edge, a semi-matte finish and a diameter of 34.20mm. Eight thousand such coins are being minted. It has a selling price of 18 leva.

Its face side has an image of the emblem of Bulgarian National Bank with the year 1879; around the rim will be written "БЪЛГАРСКА НАРОДНА БАНКА" (Bulgarian National Bank), the face value of 2 leva (2 лева) and the year of minting, 2009.

The reverse side will have an image of Uzunov with words "110 години от рождението на Дечко Узунов" (110 years since the birth of Dechko Uzunov) around the rim.

"130 years Bulgarian national bank" silver coin released

Silver commemoration coin with a put siliceous enamel "130 years Bulgarian national bank" will be released on 18 May, informs the Bulgarian national bank (BNB). Authors of the art project are Razvigor Kolev and Borislav Kiosev.

On the front side of the coin the emblem of the bank is depicted with the years "1879" and "2009", written on the ribbon. Around it is written "Bulgarian national bank", the nominal value of the coin and the year of the emission – "2009".

On the back side of the coin there is a fragment of a stained glass from the building of BNB.

The price for which the coin will be sold on the cash desks of BNB, is 30 euro, and its nominal value is 5 euro. The coin is made from silver, mat quality, higher, weighs 23.33 grams and altogether 4000 coins will be in circulation, informed the Central bank.

  I think it will be denominated in Leva,but being equivilant in value to 5 Euros.

Right, the nominal value and price mentioned in the article are the (rounded) euro equivalents. See the central bank's media release here:

So it is a 10 leva (BGN) coin, sold at 60 BGN. If you convert these amounts into euro, using the (fixed) exchange rate of 1 EUR = 1.95583 BGN, you get €5.11 and €30.68 ...
