This coin shows a very early steam ship.

These 25 cents coins are usually assumed to be unofficially produced patterns.

The U.S.S. Cairo as it would have appeared steaming down the Yazoo River during the American Civil War.

The Cairo was recovered and partially reconstructed and is now on display at Vicksburg National Military Park.

Side wheel riverboat for use on the Danube. Árpád was one of the first Hungarian Danubian steam boats. It was launched in 1836 from a dockyard near Óbuda (now part of Budapest) for the account of the First Danube Steamship Company. The company and the yard were owned by count István Széchenyi. He was a Hungarian reformer working on Hungarian national development. Árpád was fitted for 400 passengers and was used to shuttle passengers from Pest to Vienna.
