Future Polish euro and cent coins might feature the eagle from the country's coat of arms, the former pope John Paul II, and the logo of (or a reference to) the "Solidarnosc" union.
According to kathweb.at, a Roman Catholic news agency in Austria, the Polish newspaper Rzeczpospolita had asked its readers what should be depicted on the country's coins if/when Poland adopts the euro. These three - White Eagle, Solidarnosc, JP II - were the most popular suggestions.

The euro will not be introduced in Poland any time soon; currently the government aims at 2012. But why not think about possible designs ... As for having John Paul on circulation coins, among the supporters are archbishop Kazimierz Nycz (Warsaw) and the former PM (now MEP) Jerzy Buzek.
Those may be the first euro coins with the effigy of John Paul II that actually show up in circulation.
