I found it interesting.
For me, I also found it raised more questions than it answered. Japanese coins are confusing to me to say the least.

The author assumed that Japanese coin may be the only coin which floats because of surface tension, so I experimented with this Chinese 1 Fen, which turned out to be easier to stay afloat, presumably because it's smaller and thinner than the Japanese 1 Yen.
I could not float the giant and thick Indonesian 500 Rupiah
