Who can help - what is the difference between the coin of Bahrain MINT MARKS: Bahrain and al-Bahrain (by Krause)?

Globetrotter

The mint marks are here, so what's your real question?

My question would be... Why is the above stated at the start of the Bahrain section in the "Standard Catalog of World Coins" ?

Thanks Mr Paul Baker

I think the purpose is to show people who don't read Arabic what "Bahrain" looks like in Arabic. And because (apparently) it appears in two forms, with and without the definite article, which look different because of the rules of Arabic orthography, they show both.

What is confusing is that they call these "mintmarks". They are no more mintmarks than the presence of République Française on French coins or Sverige on Swedish ones. They are just a statement of which country issues and accepts the coins.

Yes - nothing to do with mintmarks.
