Gupta Empire, Chandragupta II Vikramaditya, Gold Dinar, 7.92g, Archer type, Altekar #Class II Var A

This coin has a slightly more 'mature' feature of the King, almost scowling, than the youthful portrayal in my previous post here. Nonetheless, the coin has a deep central strike with sharp and clear features of the King, ornaments, bow and Lakshmi on the reverse.
In the quest for Excellence, there's no finish line.

Some interesting "echo" lines on this coin (e.g. left of bowstring, both sides of body of king). Gold is softer than silver. Could it be that the minter was used to striking silver coins and misjudged the force it takes to strike a similar size gold coin?

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.
