Here is another object I don't know much about....

Zinc, about the same size at a 20 euro cent.

I had thought that this token was given as proof of payment of the dog tax, rather than it being used for payment?
always willing to trade modern UK coins for modern coins from elsewhere....

Correct. The system was more or less: dogs wear dog tag (proof of payment). Those that don't either get shipped to city dog kennel and - if no one wants them - to dog heaven or dog's boss gets fine.

I have never understood why there's no cat tax. Cats cause more damage. :P
