Dear Friends

GOI is planning to issue new Commemorative Coins on the Silver Jubilee of Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board.

Vaishno Devi Mandir (Hindi: वैष्णोदेवी मन्दिर) is one of the holy Hindu temples dedicated to Shakti, located in the hills of Vaishno Devi, Jammu and Kashmir. Vaishno Devi, also known as Mata Rani and Vaishnavi, is a manifestation of the Mother Goddess.

The temple is near the town of Katra, in the Reasi district in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. It is one of the most revered places of worship in India. The shrine is at an altitude of 5300 feet and a distance of approximately 12 kilometres from Katra.Approximately 8 million pilgrims visit the temple every year and it is the second most visited religious shrine in India, after Tirumala Venkateswara Temple

kansal ji is it still 25 rs or have they changed that?

dheer

Looks like Mumbai Mint with denominations of Rs 100, Rs 10 and Rs 5 ... so if we buy 2 coins of Rs 10 and one of Rs 5 it will make it 25  >:D >:D >:D

Interesting but why only Mata Vaishno Devi shrine and why not Tirumala Venkateswara Temple?
also it would be better if they come up with a new design rather than the one which is already used on a token...

dheer

As to why a particular theme is selected and not other is debatable ... there is no right answers ... and we don't want to get into the wrong answers  >:D >:D >:D

To avoid any design related controversy in future may be the design was collected from the Vaishno Devi shrine board itself. :)

I would guess coin with such theme will hit the Indian market , both collectors /dealers will like to keep such coins.

Common man due to religious sentiments will also buy such coins for pooja & auspicious ceremony.

Clever move by GOI & Mints will make substantial profits (as every one would like to take UNC coins )

Cheers ;D
Every experience, good or bad, is a priceless collector's item.
