I have always been fascinated by the 1840 Rupee. As I have said in my previous posts, the 1840 Rupee was the coin that got me hooked into coin collecting. I've collected India princely states, Straits Settlements, Swiss, Nigeria, US, and other British Empire coinage but I always get drawn back to British India Uniform coinage and this 1840 (M)  Rupee is one reason why.

Here is my 1840 Rupee from the Madras mint, I've had this coin in my collection for many years.  Nice light pink tone. Obverse:  Continuous legend with S on the truncation.  Reverse: 19 berries with V on the right ribbon.  I am posting pictures of some of the details.

Any comment on this particular coin from Madras mint is much appreciated.  Also if you have other varieties of the 1840 Cont Legend  please post and try and show the different varieties with close up pictures.

Harry, that is a nice looking rupee. The fields look mark free from the pictures. The detailed pics are great.
Disregarding what the TPG's deem the coin I think it is still a very nice coin to own. ;)

Ditto.
My example is very similar to this one. This variety is scarcer than the other CL ones.
