Afghanistan Civic copper 1292AH / 23mm
« on: March 19, 2012, 11:01:04 PM »
Overstruck, similar to Captnbirdseye's thread but a new thread to keep things simple.
Can anything more be made of it?

At least there is a clear date 1292. But I cannot find it, too.  :-[

I got this coin from a dealer who said it might be from India, but they didn't really know. Its design almost seems like a pictogram more that writing but I haven't been able to find anything about it.  It's slightly convex (domed toward the side pictured right) which I think is by design rather than denting. The side view shows it next to a United States quarter for scale. An ID, or even a clue as to where to start looking would be greatly appreciated :)

Thank you very much for the info saro! That's the best lead I've had in the 20 years since I got this coin.

I can't make out the 1292 date on the coin that Afrasi mentioned. I'm afraid they look rather like a bowl of spaghetti to me   ???
